My interest in "cultural clothing", fabrics and patterns lead directly into a series of miniature paintings. From my collection of books, I gathered photos of textiles from around the world and worked them into small sketches. The patterns and colors swirled through my mind releasing an energy that revealed itself in the minute details that I painted onto the tiny boards and frames. The realization that flowed from the effort was that the use of nature and geometry as a decorative element is timeless and universal and conveys an eternal beauty.
